TALKING THERAPY

What to expect from talking therapy

I have found, over the years of practicing hypnotherapy and NLP, that sometimes my clients just want to talk - and/or to simply be heard. That is why I’m currently a trainee counsellor - working towards adding counselling to my offerings.

It can be hard and overwhelming to open up and talk to someone. Friends and family often mean well, and offer as much support as they can, but can tend to offer opinions or solutions.

Talking therapy with a professional is very different. The relationship is based on empathy, is confidential, non-judgemental and, at its heart, is seeking to help you find your own solutions, because you are the expert on you.

With any of my clients, I never give advice or tell you what you should/shouldn’t do. If you want to talk in our sessions, I will listen openly and without judgement. We will talk through your thoughts together and reflect on them. We may look at alternative ways of thinking or different perspectives. We’ll recognise and validate tough situations and behaviours and consider the impact on you as an individual. We look towards the future and find ways of processing thoughts/behaviours in a way that works for you. It is relaxed and we go at your pace.

Often I work with my clients and we use a mix of my therapeutic offerings, which can be extremely powerful in gaining positive results.
